EHS Racing - Eric Sutton

Some guys just get it and take things to a whole new level. Eric Sutton is that type of guy. Like so many racing enthusiasts Eric has spent numerous hours tinkering around on things in his garage. But unlike the majority of others, he took what he found and turned it into a product line and started a new business.
EHS Racing was a perfect fit into our private label program especially since Eric already agreed with our basic philosophy. More air requires more fuel to reach the best power. On top of this, Eric has become one of our premier developers and is pushing our technology to the limits. You have to check out his Raptor build in our Bad Ass Vehicle Builds section.

How did you end up starting EHS Racing?
Well one day after a race going through the normal maintenance of preparing for the next ride and pulling enough stuff out of my air box to start a lawn sale. I came up with an idea of a pre-filter incorporated into an air box lid. I did a little research, and no one had a product like this available.
So I turned the idea into a reality by using some parts lying around in the garage and invented the first EHS Racing air box cover. It ended up working so well and being so unique I decided to introduce it to the market place in January of 2002.
How did you get started using the Dobeck EFI controller technology?
With more air comes the need for more fuel, that's what the main purpose of our air box lids is to pull more air and keep the same protection as a closed box. The Dobeck controller really fit our customer base the best in my opinion. When they are setup correctly they really are the easiest to use and best performing controller for 90% of the ATV world. The general consumer usually wants to modify there air box, exhaust and fuel whether it be carburetor or EFI system and stops there. The Dobeck controllers allowed us to write a program that fit our customer's specific needs but still retain total tune-ability.
You are located in North Carolina? How did you end up there?
I came down to visit family in the area and it was surprisingly warm for January. Where I grew up in NY it didn't get above 0 degrees for a month so that was the main factor.
Outside of your business, what one activity could I find you doing?
Drag Racing ATV's is my main passion now. I used to race motocross and hare scrambles, but drag racing has really taken over now. The rest of the time I have, which I wish I had more of, I try to dedicate to my family. My two year old son loves ATV's so I don't think it will be too long before I'm building him some mini drag quads.
What's your favorite personal vehicle to ride? What vehicle do you wish you had?
My favorite is definitely our drag bikes, there's not much like it. I always thought the quads I had before were fast, but until we started taking our Raptors to the limits that we have, you really get an idea of what a fast bike really is. I guess if I was wishing I would probably go for a bad ass fighter jet, but that might be a little far fetched.
